So, it’s been quiet around these parts because I’ve just been too busy, too stressed and not really inclined to write for awhile.

So, what I’m going to do is start going through the drafts queue of the blog and emptying everything out. Getting all those unfinished thoughts and bits out and into the interwebs because you know I just shit jewels baby! JEWELS! This is from July.

Things you should be reading.

If you watch any of the cable news channels with any regularity the pattern you’ll discern if you watch long enough is that there are good guys and that there are bad guys. And who falls into that role depends on where along the political spectrum you fall – if you’re on the left the Republicans are the bad guys and the Democrats are the good guys and if you’re on the right it’s the inverse.

This is all very fine and good for the majority of the population because when you get right down to it, we are in fact a nation of simpletons. Give a person a car, a place to live, steady meals and a paycheck and they pretty much can mouth all the platitudes about making the world a better place but what it really comes down to is protecting their own slice of the pie without making any kind of sacrifice.

Makes me think about an email I got a long time ago from someone after the ’04 election (I’ll have to look for that email exchange).

Our nation though is really much more a nation of centrists, you don’t see big swings in the popular vote during presidential elections because when you factor in the country as a whole, everything balances out in a strange way.wi

Anyway, I think I know where I was going with this even though I lost my head of steam and trailed off without really hitting on the topic I wanted to discuss.

Back around that time or a few months earlier I finished reading the George Bush autobiography Talking Points.

 

This draft was started around July of 2011 but I get the sense it was picking up something that was unfinished from earlier.

I can remember this histrionic email that I got and who it was from in November of 2004. It ran something along the lines of, “This is a dark day for America...” or some such bullshit predicting gloom and doom and the end of the world because Bush won a second term.

I responded, I responded and I called the sender out for such stupidity. Don’t waste my time with crap like this. Honestly, it’s an election and what’s even funnier is watching Democrats talk about accepting elections when every time they’ve lost a run for the Oval Office they do EXACTLY THE SAME THING!

Anyway, I didn’t even vote for Bush... I didn’t vote for him in 2000 and I certainly didn’t vote for him in 2004 but I sure didn’t vote for Kerry either. The guy I would have voted for was already out of the race by that time and it wasn’t this bozo either:

 

 

By the way, I watched this again when I sought it out and it still made me laugh. Howard Dean hasn’t done anything since to make me be upset that he torpedoed his own run.

The main reason I would have voted for Gephardt is because he said one thing during the campaign that made more sense to me than anything anyone else said and which has even more resonance today and that was that Free Trade should not be a race to the bottom. The funny thing is, is that if we had listened to him, if he had in fact become President you would have never had a Donald Trump presidency. This was the last time a Democrat addressed this directly.

Anyway, what I find funny is how entrenched people are today, ROOTING FOR THEIR TEAM! Sorry, I was never much a believer in that but I have to say that after watching the Democratic shenanigans of the last four years and increasingly over the months since January I will never vote for another Democrat in my lifetime.
